Copia Doble Systema | I'm New
ABOUT

The norwegian dj and musician Copyflex started Copia Doble Systema in Copenhagen, Denmark 2009, heavily taken by the digital cumbia that fused electronic music and local beats of the Americas.
Their range of venues goes from squats, block parties and glitzy clubs in Cairo to the Royal Library in Copenhagen. Everybody needs the vikingos and their own take on tropical bass! So far Copia Doble Systema has managed to play countless indoor and outdoor events, some of the best ones being the Distortion Festival (Copenhagen), Roskilde Festival and at R.A.W. Their debut EP ‘Cumbia Colegiala’, came out on Urban World Records spring 2010, and their cover version of the classic Colegiala became an instant hit in the emerging tropical music scene. Their second EP ‘Revolution’ got big attention, as the remix by Schlachthofbronx of the song Revolution gained a shower of attention and airplays.
Copia Doble Systema is getting close support from major players like Diplo (Mad Decent, Major Lazer), Gilles Peterson (BBC), El Hijo De La Cumbia (Bersa Discos), Dj Sinden (Grizzly, Domino, KissFM), Toy Selektah (Mad Decent), Villa Diamante (ZZK) and Schlachthofbronx (Man Recordings, Disco B) amongst others.

Free The Robots | Give It Up
ABOUT

Chris Alfaro is Free the Robots; the beat maker/ dj known for his unique sound, hinting at jazz, blues, psych, electronic, and hip hop, while remaining un-genre-fiable. Using everything from dusty, obscure samples, mind-warping analog and digital synths, and live instruments, his dirty drums and progressive melodies blend everything together into sonically rich compositions. His ever-evolving, imaginative sound breaks free from any boundaries and flows away from robotic monotony: freeing the robots.
Based out of Santa Ana, CA, Free The Robots started as a side project by Alfaro in 2003, while also playing with different bands, producing MC’s, and DJing full time. Having worked with so many different styles of music, Free the Robots brought everything together under one roof, allowing for further exploration in sound.
As one of the pioneering artists to come out of LA’s beat movement, Free the Robots continues to expand minds around the world with his lineup of original recordings and energetic live performances, sharing stages with the likes of Flying Lotus, DJ Shadow, Prefuse 73, and Afrika Bambaataa.

Kalbata & Mixmonster | This Is How I Feel
ABOUT

Kalbata (Ariel Tagar) is a bass music producer who previously released on labels such as Soul Jazz, Brownswood and Greenmoney. Kalbata did a string of high profile remixes for artists such as Fat Freddy’s Drop, Spank Rock, The Count & Sinden and Roll Deep, collaborated with Warrior Queen and is also the man behind reissue labels Fortuna and Spring Hill Records. Mixmonster (Uri Wertheim) is the man behind funk band ‘The Apples’ as well as a member of cut-n-paste duo Radiotrip.
Together they went into the studio with the purpose of recording a 100% analogue dub album in the spirit of the late King Tubby and the early dancehall era of the late 70’s and early 80’s. A 16-track tape machine and an old analogue mixing desk were their main instruments, with musicians playing live all throughout the album.
A year after recording the instrumental backing tracks, they travelled to Kingston, Jamaica and started tracking down their favorite singers and deejays from days gone by. Congo Beat The Drum was the resulting LP. On the one hand it was truly loyal to the origins of Jamaican music and on the other, a well produced forward thinking album, sounding totally fresh in today’s music aesthetics.
